Refreshing your store (clearing caches)
Your store keeps a cached copy of its pages and prepares its code ahead of time, so everything loads quickly for your shoppers. Most of the time this is invisible and works in your favour — but once in a while a change you've made doesn't show up straight away, because the older, cached version is still being served.
When that happens, your store's Maintenance tab has a one-click Restart web tier / clear cache control — it clears your store's caches and restarts the storefront so your latest changes take effect immediately. It's the go-to fix for "I changed something and it isn't showing."
When to use it
Reach for it when something you changed hasn't appeared on your live site after a minute or two — for example:
- A setting you updated in the admin panel isn't reflected on the storefront.
- A price, product, or piece of content looks out of date.
- You've just imported data or changed a configuration and want to be sure the store is serving the newest version.
- Pages generally look stale or inconsistent.
Is it safe?
Yes. Refreshing does not change any of your data — no products, orders, or settings are altered. It only clears the temporary cached copies and lets your store rebuild them from its current, live content. Your storefront restarts for a moment while this happens; the very first page load afterwards may be a touch slower as the cache warms back up, then normal speed resumes. There's no downtime to speak of, and it's safe to use whenever you're unsure.
How to do it
On your store's Maintenance tab, find Restart web tier / clear cache and click Restart web tier, then give it a few moments to complete.
If your change still doesn't appear afterwards, the change itself most likely didn't save — go back to where you made it and confirm it was applied. Clearing the cache only ever affects what's shown; it can't bring back a change that wasn't saved in the first place.
For deeper problems — broken styling, wrong prices or search results, errors after installing a module — see Refreshing and rebuilding your store, which covers the individual rebuild actions (compile, static content, reindex and more).
