Store controls

Your portal has a few controls for the day-to-day running of your store, on its Maintenance tab. Where your product images are served from is a separate setting — see Where your images are served from.

Maintenance mode

From your store's Maintenance tab, put your store into maintenance mode to take the storefront offline temporarily — visitors see a maintenance page and the store stops taking orders — while you make changes, then click Bring store back online. Unlike closing a store, maintenance mode keeps everything intact and billing continues; it's just a pause on the shopfront.

  • Checked live. Opening the section checks your store's actual state, so the badge (live or in maintenance) is always current — even if maintenance mode was switched some other way.
  • Keep your own access. When you turn it on, Keep my access lets the device you're using still reach the storefront and admin, and you can add other IP addresses or ranges (for example 203.0.113.7, 10.9.9.0/24) that should too. Everyone else sees the maintenance page. Untick it to take the store offline for everyone, including you. On an IPv6 connection it allows your whole home or office network, because your device's own address there changes from time to time.
  • Already in maintenance? Use Change who can see it… to let yourself (or others) in without bringing the store online — for example to check your store after an import, which leaves it in maintenance until you're ready. The list you save replaces the previous one. Still seeing the maintenance page? Your connection may be using your other address (IPv4 vs IPv6) — add it to the list.
  • The list is remembered. When you bring the store back online, the addresses you let in are kept, so the next time the store goes into maintenance — after an import, or when you turn it on again — the same people can see it straight away. The card shows the remembered list, and pre-fills it when you turn maintenance on; untick Keep my access to take the store offline for everyone instead.
  • Under the hood it runs Magento's own maintenance:enable and maintenance:disable commands.

Scheduled tasks (cron)

Your store runs scheduled tasks in the background — order processing, sending queued emails, reindexing, integrations and other periodic jobs. You can turn these on or off from the Maintenance tab.

  • They're normally on.
  • They start off after you import data or create a sandbox, so nothing fires against a store you're still setting up. Turn them back on when the store is ready. While they're off, jobs like index updates don't run, so a catalog or price change can look wrong until you switch them on.

Store usage

Your store's resource usage and traffic live on the Monitoring tab — CPU, memory, storage, 48-hour trends, and visitors by country. See Monitoring your store.
